National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) : The National Survey of Student Engagement or NSSE was designed to assess the extent to which students are engaged in empirically derived good educational practices and what they gain from their college experiences. In this it differs from many other surveys that are more oriented to student satisfaction than to specific educational outcomes. The NSSE is administered to a sample of second semester freshman and exiting seniors. NSSE was administered at EKU each spring semester from 2000 to 2003, since 2003 it has been administered every other spring semester to a sample of second semester freshman and exiting seniors. More than 430,000 students at 730 different institutions participate in NSSE each year.
